The Appraisal Institute is the acknowledged leader in real estate appraisal education, publishing, research, and professional membership designation programs. Appraisers are encouraged to go beyond minimum requirements of state licensing and certification by participating in our professional education programs. As a result, our membership represents the "cream of the crop" of the real estate appraisal profession. Educating real estate appraisers for over 60 years, the Appraisal Institute is the acknowledged leader in residential and commercial appraisal education, research, publishing, and professional membership designation programs. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the Appraisal Institute has approximately 20,000 members and 121 chapters across the country.
Becoming an Appraiser
We are often asked how people can become
an appraiser. While the Appraisal Institute does
offer courses to train people to become an appraiser,
our chapter does not have a program to offer this series
of classes. Instead, we focus more on offering
continuing education to our members and other appraisers
in this area in the form of full length courses and
shorter seminar classes. Please go to our "Course

Our Chapter
The Savannah Area Chapter of the Appraisal Institute is active in providing its members annual educational opportunities in the form of full week long courses along with seminars to help meet continuing education requirements. In addition, we have up to six chapter meetings, which are normally held over lunch with guest speakers providing information on pertinent topics such as: environmental issues, market segments, inspection techniques, and panel discussions. These meetings are free to members and most often include lunch along with occasional continuing education credit. They are also a great way to meet and network with appraisers active in our market area.
We welcome members from the coastal areas of Georgia and
South Carolina along with other portions of south and
southeast Georgia.
Although we focus much of our efforts on the educational opportunities and meetings, we also provide practical data for appraisers and other local real estate professionals on a daily basis by providing a deed record service known as the Daily Record. This service is the premier data source for tracking deed transfers in Chatham, Bryan, and Effingham Counties.
The Savannah Area Chapter also provides opportunities for networking in a more casual atmosphere. We strive to offer two socials each year. Our summer party is typically a family-oriented outing, with activities designed to allow us to fellowship and unwind in a relaxed atmosphere. The annual Christmas Party is also a casual social outing hosted by one of Savannah’s picturesque meeting facilities with plenty of good food and plenty of holiday cheer.
